The Fusion of Oriental ink and Western Oil painting

The challenge of ink painting brushwork and technique that Western artists have declined to take on, and it been difficult for Chinese and Western cultures to engage in two-way exchange and dialogue of any depth.
In order for Westerners to become more aware of the beauty of Chinese ink painting, Huang works towards bringing it up to par with Western oil painting, with the former becoming one of the world-class forms of painting art with which artists all over the world would like to create.
In his later years, Huang used his own works as demonstration pieces to urge artists of a similar mind to work together to attempt to develop a new path for traditional ink painting by promoting “Oil-based Chinese Ink Painting”.
He used Western materials, replacing paper with canvas and ink with oils, combining techniques from eastern and Western painting to accelerate the introduction of Chinese ink painting to the wider world.
